Stop By the Death Cafe in Lexington This Sunday

Have an "open, lively, and insightful discussion about death" at this program and discussion hosted by the Cary Memorial Library

LEXINGTON, MA – Death may not seem like the ideal subject to talk about over tea and cake, but Death Cafe at Cary Memorial Library aims to explore what the inevitability of dying can teach us about living.

The Sunday event is a collaboration between Lexington residents Mary Ann Christie Burnside and Sairey Leone Luterman. Burnside, an author, educator, spiritual director and hospice volunteer and Luterman, a grief counselor and Thanatologist, shared an interest in what we can learn about life from death.

Established in London in 2011, Death Cafe has since spread to more than 42 countries.

Death Cafe has no formal staff and relies on volunteers to present it in various cities and towns around the world. Each Death Cafe follows the London model – a group-directed discussion of death, typically with tea and cake, that provides an opportunity for people to talk with one another about death.

Sign-up is required for this event, which will be held this Sunday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Click here for information on how to sign up.
