Jennafer C. of Waltham says: “If you are into craft beers, delicious food, and friendly servers head over to Gaff and grab a bite! Beware it is SUPER small so go on a weekday if you want to grab dinner.”
2. Dunn Gaherins Food And Spirit, 344 Elliot St., Newton | 4.5 stars
Jeremy K. of Waltham says: “Dunn Gaherins is one of the coziest bars I’ve ever set foot in. And by cozy I mean that the space, the vibe and the wooden accents with the lighting almost make it appear to be a Hobbit hole or sorts. I just want to get a pint of Guinness and hide somewhere in a corner and relax.”
3. The Druid, 1357 Cambridge St., Cambridge | 4.5 stars
Jordan R. of Portland, OR says: “The Druid is unique for a couple of reasons. First, it actually has great food for a reasonable price at a Pub. The entire menu is really solid, but there are some standouts: the Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, the weekend specials are always great, as are the stews/soups, burgers...I actually haven’t had a bad meal here.”
4. Bull McCabe’s, 366A Somerville Ave., Somerville | 4.5 stars
Julie F. of Somerville says: “It’s a great hole in the wall spot and service is friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable and portions are great. There’s a dartboard and a bookshelf with a weird, unorganized selection you can laugh over.”
5. Paddy’s, 95 Elm St., West Newton | 4 stars
Kim M. of Waltham says: “Decided to go to Paddy’s one Thursday night to get in a good meal before Thirstday drinking. The most important thing I can say about Paddy’s is that the owners/servers are actually Irish and they are the sweetest people.”
6. Olde Magoun’s Saloon, 518 Medford St., Somerville | 4 stars
Sam S. of Fort Lauderdale, FL says: “Excellent selection of interesting & hard-to-find craft beers. Pleasant bartenders cheerfully offer (generous) samples of beers (try before buying, very strongly recommended, since online ratings of beers do NOT always give the full story; 1 sip is worth 1000 words).”
7. Hugh O’Neill’s Restaurant & Pub, 45 Pleasant St. Malden | 3.5 stars
Joe B. of Boston says: “Been here a billion times. Staff is friendly. Very spacious pub. Great beer selection. They have a variety of different events going on all the time. Brunch is good.”
Massachusetts residents should have no problem getting into the Irish spirit. The Commonwealth has the highest percentage of residents with Irish ancestry in the nation.
