Planting Soup (ages pre-school – 5th grade)
Join us as we put the “work” in workshop, and dress for a mess because this is a hands-on afternoon of actual planting. We will pick over the soil for rocks to be removed, mark off rows, plant seeds and transplant seedlings of herbs and vegetables used in the cooking of soup, all happening in the Learning Garden. The first session will be on June 4, when we will plant, followed by sessions twice per week on Sundays and Wednesdays when we will water, mulch, tend and care for our crops, culminating in the fall with cooking of many batches of soup! Over the summer, different themes will be explored at these sessions, such as bug safaris, compost and soil building, the parts of a plant, and much more.
Ages: pre-school – 5th grade, preschoolers need to be accompanied by a caregiver. $10.00 per child and $5.00 for siblings:
