West Nile Virus Confirmed in Mosquitoes from Lowell (insidelowell.com) — West Nile Virus has been detected in mosquitoes collected in Lowell, prompting the city to schedule targeted street-level spraying tonight, Sept. 2, from 8:30 to 11 p.m. in affected neighborhoods. Residents are urged to use insect repellent, wear protective clothing, and remove standing water around homes while checking city and state websites for updated maps and guidance. 
2. Phil Conners chosen as Lowell High's new boys basketball coach (lowellsun.com) — Lowell High School has named longtime educator and alum Phil Conners as its new boys basketball coach, bringing him back home after successful rebuilding stints in Tewksbury and Burlington. Conners, who lives minutes from the school, aims to turn local youth talent into a program that regularly competes for state titles at the nearby Tsongas Center.
3. RevBio Study Finds TETRANITE Promotes Bone Regeneration in Microgravity (bostonlifesciencestimes.com) — A Lowell-based company, RevBio, reports that its TETRANITE bone adhesive successfully promoted controlled bone regeneration in mice aboard the International Space Station. The peer-reviewed study suggests the material could become a safer alternative to existing treatments and potentially support future spinal and musculoskeletal procedures, highlighting cutting-edge biotech work happening in Lowell.
4. Second teen hospitalized after deadly fall at Forest Hills MBTA station (nbcboston.com) — A 19-year-old man from Lowell died after falling onto the electrified third rail while trying to help a woman who lost her balance at Boston's Forest Hills MBTA station. Authorities say foul play is not suspected, and the woman remains hospitalized in critical condition as the investigation continues.
