Lynnfield Joins With North Reading In Supporting Diehl

Sixty-eight percent of registered voters turn out for mid-term elections.

Lynnfield residents turned out in impressive numbers Tuesday, supporting much the same winners as their neighbors except for two races. In total, 6,336 registered voters out of 9,314 turned out or 68 percent.

Unlike the statewide results, Lynnfield voted in support of Republican Geoff Diehl in his race with incumbent Elizabeth Warren. Diehl received 3,515 votes to Warren's 2,544.

Also, in the race for Auditor, Helen Brady beat statewide winner Suzanne Bump, earning 2,836 Lynnfield votes to Bump's 2,742.

In other races, Charlie Baker received 5,012 Lynnfield votes to Jay Gonzalez's 1,056 to take the governor's race.

In the race for attorney general, Maura Healey won Lynnfield with 3,456 votes to James McMahon's 2,738.

Secretary of State Bill Galvin was returned to office, earning 3,574 Lynnfield votes to Anthony Amore's 2,457.

Deborah Goldberg won a close race for Treasurer, getting 3,232 votes in town to runner-up Keiko Orral's 2,645.

Seth Moulton is headed back to Washington after beating Joseph Schneider with 3,283 votes to Schneider's 2,685.

Terrance Kennedy won the race for Councillor with 4,101 votes to runner-up Vincent Dixon's 1,187.

In the race for Register of Deeds, John O'Brien won with 3,200 votes to Jonathan Ring's 2,508.

State Senator Brandon Crighton, House Minority leader Brad Jones, Clerk of Courts Thomas Driscoll, and District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett all ran unopposed and won easily.

On the ballot questions, Lynnfield voted No on Question 1 (nursing) by a margin of 4,998 to 1,181. Lynnfield voted Yes on Question 3 (gender rights) by a margin of 3,572 to 2,602.
