Plenty Of Time Remains To Donate At Whole Foods

Goal is to raise funds for town's Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.

An item on the Healthy Lynnfield agenda Monday morning became a request at the Board of Selectmen's meeting at the Al Merritt Center. Next time you're at Whole Foods, donate for a Healthy Lynnfield.

The Lynnfield Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition fundraiser at the Whole Foods on MarketStreet continues until the end of the month. Shoppers can donate anything they wish when the check out at the registers. Money raised go to fund Healthy Lynnfield programs.

The selectmen's meeting lasted less than an hour and not a single resident was in attendance, unless you include Town Accountant Julie McCarthy. But McCarthy was there to hear a report from Melanson & Heath on the town's FY 2017 audit. The news was good and included praise for McCarthy's work. One financial goal for the year ahead is to improve on Lynnfield's AA plus bond rating. Very few Massachusetts towns have a top AAA bond rating but Lynnfield is close and the selectmen along with Town Administrator Rob Dolan think it's attainable ... the board also approved Kirk Mansfield as an alternate member to the Historical Commission, approved a block party on Coleman Ave., on June 9; approved the annual Memorial Day observance on May 28; approved the library's Qui Gong on May 24 and 31; and finally a car wash by the Lynnfield High School girls' soccer team on Sept. 23.
