What We Know About Lynnfield Opponent Watertown

Lynnfield boys set to face the No. 1 seed Wednesday

Here's what we know about Watertown, straight from Lynnfield coach Scott MacKenzie.

"They're fantastic, they're great, they're phenomenal," said MacKenzie, whose team will face the Raiders (19-2) Wednesday in the Division 3 North semifinals at Wilmington High School. "They have a fantastic point guard. They have a fantastic big. They have a fantastic wing. They have a spot up shooter. They only play five kids and they might bring a kid off the bench for a minute here or there. They're an excellent defensive team that puts a ton of pressure on the ball. They're the No. 1 seed for a reason."

Middlesex League coaches voted junior center John Korte as the Freedom MVP and Forte had 29 points in the win over North Reading. Junior guard Julio Fulcar added 25 points in the win and his matchup with Cape Ann League MVP Bill Areseneault should be worth the trip to Wilmington. Other key contributers for the Raiders are sophomore Vondre Chase, and seniors Jayden Hairston and Isaac Huff.

"We're a very good offensive basketball team," said MacKenzie after the win over Whittier. "We have kids who are smart, we have kids who can make plays."

Wednesday in Wilmington the Pioneers will have to be a very good defensive team as well.
