Uber Driver Allegedly Robs, Assaults Elderly Disabled Malden Woman

It's the second Malden-related arrest involving an Uber driver in two days.

An Uber driver was arrested in Malden for allegedly assaulting and elderly disabled woman and stealing her purse and prescription medication, Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said Tuesday.

Wilson Brea, 21, of Revere was arraigned in Malden District Court Tuesday afternoon and charged with assault and battery on a person over the age of 60 or disabled person causing injury and larceny over $250.

Malden Police responded to a call at around 7:40 p.m. Monday for a woman who said she was assaulted and robbed by her driver. The woman said she had used the man's services before, and he that she hadn't been using him as an Uber driver in this instance, but rather she called him directly.

Brea allegedly asked to use the woman's bathroom at her Prentiss Street residence when he arrived to pick her up. When he left the bathroom, he allegedly took the victim's handbag, pushing her when she tried to stop him. He then allegedly left with her purse and prescription medication.

Bail for Brea was set at $500. A judge ordered he have no contact with the victim and not drive for hire within Massachusetts. His next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 20.

A Malden Uber driver was arrested Monday for allegedly exposing himself to a female, something police said he had been arrested for in the past. Uber said he was banned after the most recent arrest.

Earlier this month, an Uber driver from Boston was arraigned in Malden District Court and charged with raping a 16-year-old girl before dropping her off at school.
