Boys And Girls Club Offering Free Summer Opportunity To Malden Youth
The initiative includes free pool memberships for eligible Malden families.
MALDEN, MA —Residents will have access to free summer pool memberships, free swim lessons and paid summer job opportunities through a new Summer 2026 initiative at Hall Memorial Pool in Stoneham, according to the Boys and Girls Club of Metro North.
The program is supported by funding from the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation and is aimed at giving local youth and families safe, affordable summer opportunities. According to the Boys and Girls Club of Metro North, the initiative will include free pool memberships for eligible Malden families, free swimming lessons and water safety instruction for Malden youth, and paid summer employment opportunities for Malden teens.
The announcement comes as Hall Memorial Pool on North Border Road is undergoing major renovations through the Department of Conservation and Recreation. The project features a rebuilt pool shell, an expanded pool size, a new zero-entry design for improved accessibility, and a renovated pool deck.

Water safety is a central part of the effort. According to the Boys and Girls Club of Metro North, drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death among children, and access to swim lessons can play a significant role in prevention efforts.
The Boys and Girls Club of Metro North said it will work with Malden Public Schools, community organizations, faith communities, and youth-serving agencies to share information and help connect families with available resources.

The Boys and Girls Club of Metro North said it has served the local community and Greater Boston for more than 50 years. According to the organization, it now provides fun experiences and educational programming to more than 650 youth daily and 2,500 youth annually. Its goals for the children it serves include academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character and leadership building in multiple communities.
The summer pool initiative is centered on expanding access for Malden families while Hall Memorial Pool prepares for an updated season in Stoneham.
