Access Culture presents top class outdoor world music concert FREE - featuring Fabiola Méndez in Melrose
Join us for a vibrant afternoon of music and culture under the open sky with internationally celebrated Puerto Rican artist Fabiola Méndez—cuatrista, vocalist, educator, and Emmy-nominated composer.
Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Fabiola is a trailblazer—making history as the first person to graduate from Berklee College of Music with the Puerto Rican cuatro as her principal instrument. Her music is a powerful fusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Puerto Rican folk traditions, and jazz, woven with personal storytelling and cultural pride.
Fabiola has performed on the stages of NPR’s Tiny Desk, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and collaborated with icons like Pedro Capó, Danny Rivera, and the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Her latest album Flora Campesina (2024) continues her legacy of honoring heritage and amplifying Afro-Latinx voices.
This is more than a concert—it’s a celebration of identity, resilience, and the sounds of Puerto Rico. Bring your blanket or lawn chair and come be transported!
