Don't Spoil Your Appetite: Malden Restaurant Week Starts Monday
The new event, created by the newly formed Malden Restaurant Owners Association, will provide local diners with fixed-priced menus aimed at enticing them to try new local eateries.

Hey, it may be the last days of summer, but Maldonians would best not spoil their appetites on the barbecue this weekend.
That's because the Malden Restaurant Owners Association will be launching it's first annual “Malden Restaurant Week” this Monday, offering customers a variety of high-value, fixed-price dinners aimed at enticing consumers to explore local restaurants in a sluggish economy.
“We have a lot of wonderful restaurants in Malden, and they run the spectrum: American, sushi, Irish,” Dockside Restaurant co-owner Lisa Urbaczewski, a participant, said. “I think (the event) would be a good opportunity for people that normally wouldn't try a different cuisine to be a little more open-minded about it.”

Urbaczweski said that the Association has about 12 members, and are looking to expand – the goal, she explained, was to help local restaurants weather the bad economy, which has produced low demand for nights out and higher costs for restauranteurs.
“(Nationally), I know the standard number is 1 out 4 restaurants (fail),” she said. “It's not just Malden; this is nation-wide.”

The event will be held from Monday, Aug. 6 to Sunday, Aug. 13.
While participating restaurants will be offering three-course meals at value prices, their regular menus will most likely be available at most restaurants as well, Urbaczweski said.
