Dave Caiazzo, Athlete and Author, at the MPL

Malden's own Dave Caiazzo, athlete and new author, will speak and sign books at the Malden Public Library on Thursday, December 1st at 7PM. Caiazzo has been recognized throughout the years as one of the Boston area's elite pitchers. He was the first inductee into Malden High School's Hall of Fame, selected as All-America while at Massachusetts Bay Community College, and played at the University of New Haven under one of college's best coaches, Frank "Porky" Vieira. Caiazzo continued his career with the Malden Merchants and Augustine's Athletics, and through his Greater Boston Baseball Camp. He also worked as a scout for the Cleveland Indians. Caiazzo has written a new book, "Life Tried to Throw Me a Curveball: I Overcame Diabetes to Become a Pro," which discusses his baseball career and struggle with diabetes. Books will be available for purchase during the event at the library. This event is free, open to the public, and handicapped accessible. The library is located at 36 Salem St., Malden, MA and can be reached at 781-324-0218.
