Easter Celebration

The First Parish in Malden, Universalist, invites everyone to an Easter celebration on Sunday, April 24. The morning begins at 9 with a potluck breakfast followed by a traditional Easter worship service at 10:30. The service features guest artist Tsuyoshi Honjo, saxophone; Mariko Matsumura, soprano soloist; and Janna Bruene, pianist and organist. David M. Horst, minister, is the worship leader and preacher.

Honjo, a native of Iwate, Japan, and a resident of Malden, has appeared in numerous ensembles including Alea III, Juventas, and Habanera Academy Saxophone Ensemble as a soloist. He is active as a classical, jazz, and contemporary improvisation saxophonist in France, Germany, Japan, Thailand, and the U.S. He has premiered many new works by composers around the world including Stockhausen, Georgia Spiropoulos, Diana Rotaru, Florent Motch, and Jose Perez.  Honjo participates in numerous festivals including the Habanera Saxophone Quartet Academy in France, the Saxophone Masterklass in Germany, and the Ogikubo Classical Music Festival in Tokyo. He currently studies under Kenneth Radnofsky in the doctoral program of Boston University.

An Easter egg hunt for young children is held at noon in the sanctuary following the worship service.
