The man driving the car was placed under arrest.

MALDEN, MA — The police department arrested a man on multiple drug charges this past weekend.

Resident John Nguyen, 34, was pulled over by Officer David Kessler at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Eastern Avenue this past Friday. Malden police told Patch the stop was conducted after the vehicle’s registration had been revoked due to an insurance issue.

“During the subsequent investigation, officers recovered approximately 248 grams of suspected cocaine from the vehicle,” Public Information Officer Michael Powell told Patch.

“Sometimes the most important part of the story isn't who got arrested. It's what was taken off the street,” the department said in a statement.
