Kevin Harris Project

First Parish presents a special concert/worship event with the Kevin Harris Project, jazz trio,  in remembrance of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A rising star in the Boston and New York jazz scene, the pianist and composer performs regularly at the Blue Note in New York City and Scullers' Jazz Club, the Regatta Bar, and Wally's Jazz Café in Boston. He makes regular tours of jazz clubs in Italy and is a featured artist at the annual Boston Jazz Festival. Mr. Harris plays a distinctive combination of traditional and contemporary music. The native Kentuckian's compositions and arrangements vary from explosive polyrhythmic pieces to introspective ballads.

"Jazz Times Magazine" says, "Harris tiptoes and pirouettes across a relaxed set of ballads and lightly soulful grooves, he possesses a spare style and a gentle touch."

Mr. Harris is joined by Keala Kaumeheiwa, acoustic bass, and Steve Langone, drums, for the Malden performance. A reception for the artists follows.
