The fifth annual Malden Charity Softball Tournament will be held on July 29. This tournament draws teams from several local communities each year and raises money for the Jimmy Fund, which supports adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This year's tournament was organized by Larry Collins.
In the past, Larry has organized other Jimmy Fund fundraisers such as car washes and bake sales, but this year all of his time and energy has been devoted to the tournament. Some teams playing include the Malden Fire Department, Malden Police Department, Malden Pop Warner, and other local softball and baseball teams and businesses. Each team is responsible for a $250 registration fee which benefits the Jimmy Fund.
The tournament will be played on two ball fields at Malden’s Salemwood School, and will include a barbecue and opportunity drawings. Act fast and sign up a team for this fun day of softball to benefit the Jimmy Fund!
