Five Things You Need to Know Today, Feb. 23

Today is Wednesday, Feb. 23. Here are five things you need to know:

Help for parents: The Malden WIC Office will host Creative Coping, a program for parents who need some help raising their kids. This free lunch series will cover different topics, including pediatricians, child safety and development, and the challenges of motherhood.

Parking Sticker Talk: Yes, it’s labeled as a public safety meeting, but the thrust of the conversation tonight at the Linden School will be about the proposed residential parking sticker program. Officials hope the police can use the stickers to identify cars that don’t belong in neighborhoods. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m..

A head start against concussions: Concussions have been a hot topic in the sports world, and there’s good reason for that: The more we learn about concussions, the more dangerous they seem. Parents with kids in contact sports should attend tonight’s event, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Anthony’s. Hosted by the East Boston/Malden Youth Hockey Association, the event will talk about concussions, the recent science, and preventive measures.
