Mystic Valley Football loses in a shootout

On Saturday, the Mystic Valley Regional Chater School football team lost to visiting Chelsea, 40-30, in a game that showcased a lot of offense from both teams.

Alex Arredondo put the Eagles on the board first with a 16-yard touchdown run, but Chelsea responded on its next drive to make it 8-7, Eagles.  After a pair of Chelsea touchdowns, Mystic Valley saw themselves trailing 20-8 before the half, but Eric Natale recovered a big fumble for the Eagles, who then marched downfield and scored on a 4-yard run by quarterback Mike Pascal to cut Chelsea's lead to 20-16.

The Eagles capitalized with a long drive capped by Pascal's second touchdown to give the Eagles a 22-20 lead.

Mystic Valley forced the Red Devils to punt on their next drive. Back on offense, Arredondo broke off a long 43-yard touchdown run. Pascal threw to Klysman Afonso for the two-point conversion to pad the Eagle lead to 30-20.
