Malden High Football to Open Playoffs with Rematch at Everett

The Malden High football team will open the playoffs right where they left off – at top-seeded Everett.

The Golden Tornados just lost at Everett Friday, Oct. 24, 42-27. They’ll return this Friday, Oct. 31, for a 7 p.m. game in the quarterfinals of the North Division 1 bracket.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) released its football playoff brackets Sunday.

The bracket’s No. 1 seed Everett (6-1) only lost at Xaverian, 21-14, this season and is No. 2 overall in both the Boston Globe and ESPN Boston state rankings.

No. 8 seed Malden (5-2) lost to Catholic Memorial, 17-14, in addition to Everett. Malden hasn’t beaten Everett since 1991.

The winner will face the winner of No. 4 Peabody and No. 5 Lexington in the bracket’s semifinals.
