Malden Leaders Meet to Address Proactive Approach to Opioid Crisis

Mayor Gary Christenson and Police Chief Kevin Molis met with the MOAR to discuss helping Middlesex residents achieve and maintain recovery.

MALDEN, MA – As Massachusetts remains gripped by the opioid crisis, community leaders across the Bay State are brainstorming methods of getting out in front of the problem.

Recently, Malden Mayor Gary Christenson and Police Chief Kevin Molis met with the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR) to discuss proactive approaches for helping Middlesex County residents achieve and maintain recovery.

Addiction prevention coalitions from Medford, Somerville, Everett, Waltham, Stoneham, Arlington and Cambridge also participated in the meeting.

The MOAR works with communities to organize recovering individuals, families and friends into a mouthpiece for public education. It has been making strides in collaborating with area cities and towns to improve the strength of the recovery community in Middlesex County, and intends to establish more recovery community centers in the county.
