Malden Robbery Suspect Investigated In 'Red-Handed Bandit' Spree

MALDEN, MA — A man arrested a day after a police officer spotted him fleeing the scene of a robbery in Malden may be tied to a string of robberies in the area, according to authorities. Ramfis Casado, 34, of Lynn, faces charges of armed robbery while masked and additional warrants.

Casado is accused of robbing In & Out Convenience Store on Lebanon Street Monday. The suspect was spotted leaving the store by Malden Police Officer Kenny Watkins, who chased him on foot before he fled in a car, according to Boston 25.

Investigators identified Casado as a suspect and searched his home in Chelsea Tuesday. They found several items of clothing resembling those worn in other robberies in greater Boston, police said.

Authorities believe Casado is the "Red-Handed Bandit," a man wanted for 12 other robberies in the area. The suspect's moniker comes from the red gloves he wore during the robberies.
