Bloody, Drunk Malden Teen Fled Horrifying OUI Crash: Police
Two people - one with life-threatening injuries - had to be freed from vehicles, while the 19 year old allegedly fled.
MALDEN, MA – A bloody, drunk Malden teen who allegedly caused the horrifying OUI crash that left two victims trapped was found a short distance from the scene, the Suffolk Count DA's Office said. Hector Jimenez-Valez, 19, was arraigned Wednesday following the early-morning crash in Chelsea that left his passenger with life-threatening injuries and another motorist hospitalized.
Police located a bloodied, wobbly Jimenez-Valez a short distance away from the crash after he allegedly fled the scene. He was hospitalized for cuts to his wrists, knees, and face, and released into police custody.
The crash happened shortly after 2 a.m. in the area of Maple Street and Everett Avenue. Police said one car, a 2016 Toyota Corolla with rear-end damage, was on the sidewalk. Another car, a 2012 Honda Civic with heavy front-end damage, was in the middle of the road. (Subscribe to Malden Patch for more local news and alerts.)

Witnesses told police the driver of the Civic had been speeding and ran a red light. They also said he fled after the crash and provided a description to police.
A front-seat passenger suffering from a severe head injury was trapped in the Civic. He was freed and transported to Mass. General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the Corolla was trapped unconscious in his vehicle. He was freed and also transported to MGH with non-life threatening injuries.
Jimenez-Valez was arraigned in Chelsea District Court on charges of operating under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of a collision causing personal injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Bail was set at $7,500 and he was ordered to refrain from drinking alcohol or driving if he is released on bail.
Jimenez-Valez returns to court Aug. 22.
