Today is Monday, May 9. Here are five things you need to know:

Keep a hand on your hat: Expect some wind today, with gusts blowing upwards of 22 MPH, according to the National Weather Service. It’ll be sunny, with high temperatures in the lower 60’s.

A memorial for the fallen: The Middlesex Sheriff’s Department unveiled a new memorial for its fallen officers on May 4. The new memorial stands at the sheriff’s Billerica facility and was designed and erected by Woodlawn Monuments.

Monday movie: Today’s Senior Center film is “Hereafter,” starring Matt Damon as a clairvoyant trying to escape his past. The show starts at 1 p.m..

Give blood: You’ve got something someone else needs. Head over to Saint Joseph’s community blood drive today between 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and leave a pint of the red stuff. You never know; it could save a life.

Meet the author: Malden Public Library’s spring author series continues at 7 p.m. with C.D. Collins, the Pushcart-nominated short story writer and novelist. Collins will read passages from “Blue Land,” her collection of short stories.
