📰 News we're reading

• Malden To Become Home Of Indoor Soccer Chain's Newest Location (patch.com) — Malden residents will soon have a new year-round spot to play and watch soccer as UNLMTD Soccer prepares to open an indoor facility at 735 Broadway in Ward 8. City Councilor Jadeane Sica and Mayor Gary Christenson recently toured the site, which will feature five-on-five fields, youth classes, leagues, camps, parties, and a bar and lounge. The venue aims to serve kids, families, and adult players across the city.

• Malden students show impressive gains in state-monitored ACCESS testing results (advocatenews.net) — Malden Public Schools report that local English Learner students are now outperforming state and peer-district averages on the annual ACCESS language test, with especially strong gains in grades 1–5 and 6–8. District leaders credit recent investments in curriculum and coaching and say more than half of EL students hit progress targets, with an action plan to keep improving across all grades.

• Malden man a big $236K winner in new Mass Lottery game 'The Lamp' (advocatenews.net) — A Malden resident, Joseph Bulla, just turned a $10 online Mass Lottery bet into a $236,122 prize and plans to use the money for his daughter's education. His win comes from "The Lamp," a new progressive-jackpot eInstant game on the Lottery's online platform, which has already produced several six-figure payouts statewide.
