A consultant will be used to help prioritize about $17.5 million in needed school building repairs and improvements.

A consultant will be used to help prioritize about $17.5 million in needed school building repairs and improvements.
During Tuesday’s school committee meeting, members of the selectmen, financial committee, municipal building commission and the department of public works agreed to develop a list of priorities, with an emphasis on items that are eligible for a state reimbursement.
Not all items are eligible for reimbursement according to School Committee Chairman Michael Trowbridge and a statement of interest must be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority by February.

The consultant that is chosen must come from a state-approved list who can help prioritize the district’s needs.
Capital improvement needs identified includes improvements to fire safety, electrical systems, exteriors fixings, roofing, elevators, plumbing, and $8.72 million in improvements to HVAC systems across the district.
