Police warned business owners and residents on social media last November. On Dec. 18, police said they had their first break in the case, pulling over Shepard after a traffic violation on West Street. Police said Shepard is the same man seen on security cameras at the broken in businesses.

The indictment transferred Shepard's case from Attleboro District Court to Bristol County Superior Court, where he can face a longer sentence if convicted. Shepard will be arraigned in Fall River Superior Court Oct. 3.
