Mansfield HS Students Won't Be Disciplined For Parkland Walkout
Like in Mansfield, students across the nation are expected to leave class for 17 minutes on March 14 to remember those lives lost.

MANSFIELD, MA — There will be no consequences for any Mansfield High School students who take part in a planned walkout in memory of those killed during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland Florida.
Principal Mary Watkins wrote in a letter obtained by the Sun Chronicle that some students are planning to take part in the national walkout. Like in Mansfield, students across the nation are expected to leave class at 10 a.m. for 17 minutes to remember those lives lost.
No students should feel compelled to take part, Watkins wrote.

The decision is consistent with the expectations of Superintendent Teresa Murphy. She said at a recent school committee meeting that as long as students were respectful and behaved properly, there would be no consequences to their actions.
