Mansfield Man Pleads Guilty to Obama Death Threats

Andrew O'Keefe, 29, pleaded guilty to a federal charge of making threats against the president​.

MANSFIELD, MA — A Mansfield man has admitted to posting death threats online that were aimed at President Barack Obama.

Andrew O'Keefe, 29, pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Boston to a federal charge of making threats against the president. Sentencing is scheduled for March 16, 2017, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

In May, O’Keefe, allegedly posted a threat on an FBI website stating his intent to kill the president. He also wrote that he wanted U.S. Secret Service agents to be sent to his apartment because he could, “use the company.”

That ask for company led to police and a SWAT team raiding O’Keefe’s Mansfield apartment. He was taken into custody and during the raid, police seized over 100 weapons including swords, knives, and an air compressed electronic rifle from his home and car.

O'Keefe faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
