Mansfield Man Scheduled to Admit to Obama Death Threats

MANSFIELD, MA — A Mansfield man charged with threatening to kill President Barack Obama is expected to plead guilty next week.

Andrew J. O’Keefe, 29, is scheduled to admit to the federal charge of making threats against the president on Dec. 15 in U.S. District Court in Boston, according to the Sun Chronicle.

O'Keefe was arrested in May 2015 after he allegedly posted a threat on an FBI website stating his intent to kill the president and also asked for U.S. Secret Service agents to be sent to his apartment because he could, “use the company.”

Two days after making the threat, FBI investigators appeared at O’Keefe’s Mansfield apartment in an attempt to interview him. O’Keefe refused to talk to the officers before coming out of his apartment 90 minutes later.

A search warrant executed on his residence and vehicle resulted in the seizure of over 100 weapons including swords, double-edged knives, hatchets, spears, an air gun, and two laptop computers. He was previously charged in Attleboro District Court on two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon.

O'Keefe faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
