Statewide, there were 259,000 National Grid customers - and 270,000 in all - without power as of 4 p.m. Monday. Local police, fire, and utility departments have been working since late Sunday night for the hundreds of reports of flooded roads, fallen trees, downed power lines, and other storm-related damage. National Grid said crews are working on repairing transmission lines first to restore power to a larger number of people. But the extensive damage means the repairs are likely just getting started. For those still without power, it could be a few days for repairs to be completed, National Grid said Monday.
