Storm Update: Storm Saw Thousands Lose Power
At the peak of the storm, there were over 3,100 outages across Mansfield.

MANSFIELD, MA — Mansfield is known as a place where the power doesn't often go out during a storm, but even this town had their fair share of outages during Friday's storm.
There were over 3,100 outages across Mansfield at the height of the storm, according to Town Manager Kevin Dumas and 842 homes remain without service as of midday Saturday. Dumas said in a release to prepare for multiple days without power due to significant damage caused by the storm.
As of Saturday morning, most of East Mansfield, pockets of West Mansfield, Mill Street and Essex Street are in the dark, according to the Mansfield Police Department

During a 13-hour period, public safety dispatchers received over 900 calls and an emergency operation center received 74 calls including 34 road closures due to fallen trees with electrical wires, 13 fallen trees onto homes, two indoor fires, several outdoor fires, and multiple car crashes including four where a tree fell on an occupied vehicle.
Town employees continue to work to clean up the debris, Dumas said.

The Mansfield Green Recycling Green will have special operating hours March 4 and 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Any issues related to power outages should be directed to Mansfield Electric at 508-261-7361.
A decision on school and trash pickup will be made Sunday.
