Suspect in Mansfield Pizza Shop Break-in Says Police Got Wrong Guy
James E. Mason, 43, pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering into a depository, malicious damage over $250, and larceny from a building.

MANSFIELD, MA — A Norton man accused of stealing $900 from Cousin's Pizza in Mansfield says he is not the man police are looking for.
James E. Mason, 43, appeared in Attleboro District Court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering into a depository, malicious damage over $250, and larceny from a building over $250. He was ordered held on $3,500 cash bail, according to the Sun Chronicle.
At 12:19 a.m. on April 19, police responded to an alarm at Cousin’s Pizza. Officers at the scene found broken glass and confirmed that someone was able to access the register and safe, and make away with $900, according to the Mansfield Police Log.

Police say Mason was apprehended after a resident saw a surveillance photo of the man leaving the scene in a Saab. That person was able to give officer the vehicle's license plate number, leading to Mason's arrest.
Through his attorney, Mason denied the allegations, but when officers went to speak to him Tuesday, he declined to talk.

Mason was initially arrested on a warrant out of Brockton District Court. He is scheduled to return to court May 31.
