Businesses Targeted by Power Scam
Callers are targeting businesses saying power will be shut off if bills aren't paid.

MARBLEHEAD, MA - Police and the Marblehead Municipal Light Department are warning local businesses that scammers are back and targeting them with threats of shutting off power.
According to police, the scammers are calling the businesses and stating that power will be disconnected within minutes if payment is not made.
The callers are identifying themselves as being from the Marblehead Municipal Light Department. Police and the light department are advising people not to pay any money, because the calls are not coming from the light department.

The phone number being used in the scam is 1-800-493-9641 and the phone is answered with a pre-recorded message that they are from the Marblehead Municipal Light Department.
