On June 6, 1944, the Allies undertook one of the most bold and significant operations of World War II — a massive amphibious and airborne assault in Normandy, marking the beginning of the end for Nazi oppression in Europe. Join us to honor this monumental day with an inspiring lecture by Dr. Spencer Jones, esteemed historian and author. The first 24 hours of Operation Overlord, codenamed "D-Day," saw a united effort of American, British and Canadian forces to overcome Hitler's formidable 'Atlantic Wall' and secure essential beachheads. Dr. Jones will unveil the strategic brilliance and steadfast bravery that marked this pivotal moment, propelling the Allies towards the liberation of Europe.

A viewing of the online lecture will be held in the Event Center at Abbot Public Library, followed by a discussion session.

Registration is required and limited to 35. Please register at tinyurl.com/RS-D-Day. Can't attend in person? Please register for the program or join the Wait List. Everyone who is registered will be sent the recording.

Dr. Spencer Jones is an award-winning historian with a special interest in the First and Second World Wars and the life of Sir Winston Churchill.
