Join Kevin from The Power of Speech for an interest-based hangout and social group for kids ages 9-13. The topic for this month will be: DIY Fidgets! Come hang out and connect with other kids who share a love for fidgets. Kids are welcome but not required to bring along a favorite fidget, or just come to make something new!
Space is limited to 12 kids, ages 9-13, and registration is required. Please register at <a href="https://tinyurl.com/fidget-hub" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">tinyurl.com/fidget-hub</a>. Caregivers are welcome to stay and support/observe or drop off and browse the library during their child's class.
The monthly Hangout Hub is a chance to meet, play and hang out with others who share similar interests, developing friendship skills and giving kids opportunities to share something they love to do. Each class will offer accommodations that support all learning and interaction styles.

Kevin Merrigan is a local school counselor and the Community Outreach Coordinator at The Power of Speech who loves supporting kids in their quests for fun, friendship and play!

Drop-in Tech Help with All Computers Great and Small

Kids ages 8-12 can explore 3D design with Tinkercad in this session, suitable for both new and returning participants. New users will receive a brief introduction to the software and how the library’s 3D printers work, while returning participants can continue working on their own designs with guidance as needed. Participants will save their files with the library staff and pick up their printed item at the Main Desk later. Take home a small pre-printed 3D fidget toy at the end of the session!

Space is limited to 10 participants ages 8-12, and online registration is required. We all have a wish to be happy and avoid suffering. Throughout our lives, we travel many different paths driven by this desire: career, relationships, home, vacations, etc. But ultimately, these external paths do not yield the results we seek.
During these introductory Dharma talks and meditation sessions, we will discuss the internal paths that can lead to discovering real happiness and a more meaningful life.
Join longtime Kadampa Buddhist practitioner, Tim Hogarty, to:

Tim frequently makes the commute to KMC Boston to help with special events particularly with the sound desk and to fill in as a guest teacher. Tim lives locally on the North Shore, and is an avid gardener and cook. Enjoys walks with his dog, Boo.

Meditations in Beverly: Cultivating a Heart of Compassion

Bestselling author and award-winning journalist Phyllis Karas will discuss her new book, "Curse of the Blumenthals," the history of one close-knit New England Jewish-American family and their dark relationship with alcohol. The book follows the Blumenthal clan over a ninety-year period, from bootlegging arrests in 1920’s Providence, a drunk driver killing six members of their family in 1935, to the shocking and headline-grabbing 1954 murder of a Boston seamstress committed by teenager Ronnie Blumenthal. Though Blumenthal confessed and spent thirteen years in prison, to this day the family isn’t sure if Ronnie—or another family member—was the killer. Karas will be joined in a discussion with her literary agent and former editor, Doug Grad, in a wide-ranging discussion from her deep dive into stories that were seemingly already known, to uncovering family secrets that changed the narrative, and the impact it has had on her and her extended Blumenthal relatives.

The 10 members of No Static have performed the music of Steely Dan since 2005. Thousands of Dan lovers young and old have experienced the excitement they bring to every performance. Appearing at first-tier venues across New England and beyond, this talented band has earned the admiration and affection of critics and fans alike.
Based in Boston, No Static is&nbsp;one of the top Steely Dan tribute bands in the country. These dedicated musicians specialize in expertly performing the music of Steely Dan, re-creating that amazing bluesy jazz-rock sound invented by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. As Dan fans know, this is no small feat. The music is complex, spanning genres, requiring precise attention to musical detail, with subtle grooves, sophisticated vocal harmonies, iconic solos, and time and key changes popping up when least expected. Steely Dan is not an easy band to pay tribute to.
