UPDATE: Causeway Reopened

The lower end of Front Street has also reopened.

MARBLEHEAD, MA - Shortly before 12:30 p.m., the causeway was reopened to traffic.

Due to flooding and splashover on the causeway, Marblehead Police announced at 11 a.m. that they were closing the causeway to public vehicles for safety reasons.

With high tide at 11:11 a.m., police officials stated that they hope the causeway does not remain closed for too long.

Also, the lower end of Front Street near the Barnacle was temporarily closed due to flooding in that location. Police announced that Front Street was also reopened by 12:30 p.m.
