CLIFTON LUTHERAN CHURCH CELEBRATES 75 YEARS

On Sunday, April 23rd, Clifton Lutheran Church will celebrate its 75th anniversary. Co-incidentally, 2017 also marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany, which launched the protestant reformation movement and the birth of the Lutheran Church.

The weekend of celebration begins with a lunch for the various ministers from the other Marblehead houses of worship and their spouses, which will be hosted by Pastor Jim Bixby. On Sunday April 23rd at 10.00 a.m. there will be a special anniversary service at the church which will be led by Pastor Bixby. Bishop James Hazelwood, the presiding bishop of the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America will also attend the service. Celebratory music for the service will be provided by the adult choir and the bell choir. The guest soloist will be the young cellist Mari Nagamura. Among many national and international honors, Mari is principal cellist for the Boston Youth Symphony and is a member of the Trio Adonais at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.
