Copland's 'Lincoln Portrait' Sunday at St. Michael's
A free recital of American composers at noon on Sunday, July 5, with Douglas Major and his 'Name that Tune' contest for 2 free lobster rolls
On Sunday, July 5, 2015 at noon at St. Michael’s Church, Douglas Major will perform works of John Philips Sousa, George Gershwin, and Scott Joplin, and, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the ending of the Civil War, Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait” narrated by Victor A. Wild. The free concert will also include Major’s (in)famous “Name That Tune” quiz with the winner receiving 2 free lobster rolls being served that day until 3 pm.
Douglas Major is Music Director at St. Michael’s, former organist and music director at the Washington National Cathedral and an internationally known organist and composer performing with the Empire Brass Quintet.
Lobster rolls and other family-friendly food will be served Friday through Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm during the Marblehead Festival of Arts. All proceeds of the lunch go to local charities and a hot lunch program and school at St. Thomas, Arcahaie, Haiti.

The concert and the Festival mixed media exhibit are accessible from 26 Pleasant St. and the Lobster Lunch accessible from Summer St. There is free Festival of Arts parking and a trolley service as well. Note, parts of Pleasant and Washington St. will be closed to car traffic noon to 4 pm for the Festival’s annual Street Festival.
