Humphreys Road Race a Big Success

The race helped raise funds to help children of veterans entering college.

Last week, under a beautiful blue autumn sky and in the presence of the color guard from the U.S.S. Constitution--over one hundred runners participated in the the second annual Don Humphreys Veterans Memorial road race. Runners took a scenic pass through downtown Marblehead and were supported by dozens of volunteers as well as the staff from YMCA who transported and operated all the specialized electronic equipment needed tostart/stop and time all the runners.

When the race was completed, all the participants were invited to share snacks and stories at the Boston Yacht Club. Overlooking a stunning beautiful Marblehead Harbor, the winners were given certificates and all the participates were grateful to have helped furtrher an important cause.

All proceeds from this race will support the Marblehead Rotary Club’s scholarship program and will provide funds to support a son or daughter of a veteran or a student entering a military academy.
