Marblehead Declares Snow Emergency Parking Ban Ahead Of March Winter Storm

The North Shore was forecast to be hit with a combination of snow and ice on Thursday night.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead residents will once again have to move their vehicles from town streets on Thursday night after a snow emergency parking ban was declared earlier in the day.

The ban comes as up to 4 inches of snow was forecast on the North Shore, along with sleet and freezing rain.

Violators will be subject to tickets and possible towing.

The ban was set to start at 11 p.m. on Thursday and end at 7 a.m. on Friday.

Depositing snow and ice on or against a fire hydrant, or on any sidewalk or roadway, is prohibited.

If a vehicle is towed during a snow emergency, call the Marblehead Police Department at 781-631-1212 to confirm the location of the vehicle.

All vehicles are towed to the designated town tow lot at the Transfer Station at 5 Woodfin Terrace by Todisco Towing or 171 Boston Street, Salem.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the state starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday and continuing until noon on Friday.

"Plan on slippery road conditions," the NWS said. "The Friday morning commute will be impacted."
