Marblehead Snow Emergency Parking Ban To Expire

Drivers are advised to exercise caution and stay off the roads, if possible, for the duration of the snow emergency.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead's snow emergency parking ban is set to expire on Tuesday morning after the town was hit with nearly 2 feet of snow from Sunday's massive winter storm.

Officials said on Monday that the emergency ban will expire at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

"We remind residents that depositing, pushing, or blowing snow from private property onto public streets, sidewalks or fire hydrants is strictly prohibited," police said. "Additionally, while the snow emergency parking ban is still in effect, vehicles should remain off the streets to allow for continued snow operations as we prepare for additional snow accumulation throughout the day and evening on Monday."

Marblehead was among the North Shore cities and towns where residents woke up to 20 inches or more of snow Monday night with enhanced totals because of a coastal effect across the region.

"We urge residents to be cautious on the roads and to limit travel if possible," police said. "Before traveling, make sure your car headlights and brake lights are fully functional, check your tires, ensure your gas and coolant levels are full, and equip your car with an emergency kit, ice scrapers and blankets. In the event of an emergency, always dial 911."
