Power Outage Leads to Car Break Arrest

Salem man arrested early Tuesday morning for alleged car breaks on Lafayette Street.

MARBLEHEAD, MA - A Lafayette Street woman who was up around 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning because she had no heat or power was able to call police about car breaks in progress in her neighborhood.

The woman called police shortly after 4 a.m. and said she saw a man open her car door, which she had left unlocked.

She said she saw the man attempting to open car doors along the street and saw a woman waiting near a streetlight on Lafayette Street as the man tried to get into the cars.

Several cars in the area were reportedly broken into.

Marblehead Police arrested a Salem man in connection with the breaks.

Georgios Keskinidis, 33, of 48 Rainbow Terrace in Salem was charged with two counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.
