When Does The Lynx Arrive?

Every week we set out to answer a question submitted by one of our readers as part of our column.

On Thursday, we received an email from a local resident who was curious about exactly when would be cruising into Marblehead Harbor.

They asked: "We missed all the fanfare last year when The Lynx arrived in Marblehead and we don't want to miss it again! When is it expected to sail into Marblehead Harbor this summer?"

According to an announcement made at Wednesday's meeting of the Board of Selectmen, The Privateer Lynx has requested permission to dock at a public mooring on Front Street from Wednesday, Aug. 8 through Monday Aug. 13.

This means that , which drew crowds of town residents to and last summer, will take place on Wednesday Aug. 8 - when crew-members will arrive with "ship guns ablaze," according a letter read Wednesday night.

Just as was the case last year, daily tours will be given from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and residents will be able to go along for a harbor sail from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
