UPDATED: 290 Closed After Serious Crash in Marlborough

It is reported that two medical helicopters were called to the scene of a serious crash on Route 290 eastbound. Expect heavy delays.

Update, 2:07 p.m.: NECN reported that 3 were injured in the crash. The trailer was driven by an Old Town, Maine, man, and a man from Haverhill and woman from Worcester were in the car that hit the trailer. A pickup truck, driven by a Charlton man, struck the car. 

Update, 11:58 a.m.: The westbound lanes are closed, and helicopters landed on the highway, reported New England Alerts. Police are advising to avoid the area, as there are heavy delays.

Rescue crews are on the scene assisting in a crash in the high speed lane on 290 Eastbound near the entrance to Route 495 in Marlborough.

According to an iAlerts report, there is a person trapped and the “jaws are going to work.”

NECN is reporting that 290 is closed because of this “serious crash,” and that two medical helicopters have been called to the scene, where a car appears to be completely destroyed underneath a tractor-trailer.
