6 New Officers Join Marlborough Police Department

The group graduated from the Marlborough MPTC Police Academy last week and was sworn in on Monday.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A group of new officers have officially joined the police force in Marlborough.

The Marlborough Police Department announced it hired six officers on Monday. Officers Erin Murphy, Isabela Gunha, Brett Reale, James Brine, Glen McKane, and Zachary Robbins all graduated from the Marlborough MPTC Police Academy and were sworn in on Monday.

The officers graduated from the 1st ROC in a class of 43 student officers. The graduation at Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester took place on Thursday.

The MPTC Marlborough Police Academy is a 23-week program, and recruits spend hours learning motor vehicle stops, building searches, and other skills.

Marlborough City Clerk Steve Kerrigan administered the oath of office at the ceremony, while families and colleagues of the new officers, as well as Mayor Christian Dumais and Marlborough Police Chief David Giorgi, were in attendance.

The new officers will begin a 12-week field training program with the police department's patrol division before they can patrol independently.

The Marlborough Police Department offered its congratulations and best of luck to its new officers in a statement.
