MARLBOROUGH, MA — The Marlborough Police Department is warning residents that they may hear loud, controlled detonations over the coming week as scheduled disposal operations take place nearby
The controlled detonations are scheduled to occur Thursday, Apr. 23, through Friday, May 1, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on South Post at Devens Reserve Forces Training Area, which is located at 31 Quebec St. in Devens, police said.
The disposal site is cordoned off and secured, with strict safety protocols in place during all operations.
Controlled detonations are used by military and explosives safety teams to safely dispose of or neutralize explosive materials that cannot be moved or dismantled safely. These operations are carefully planned and carried out in secure areas to minimize risk, noise, and potential danger to surrounding communities.
Officials emphasized that there is no threat to the public, and no delays are expected on South Post during the scheduled work.
Residents are advised to take precautions for pets or individuals who may be sensitive to sudden loud noises during the designated hours.
Authorities thanked the public for their cooperation as the scheduled operations were carried out safely and securely.
