MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough police handled more than 3,100 incidents and calls for service in August as traffic stops declined sharply from the previous month.
The Marlborough Police Department recorded 3,110 incidents and calls, made 57 arrests and received 1,760 calls to 911 during August. Police conducted 683 motor vehicle stops, down from 1,139 in July.
Overall activity fell by 69 incidents and calls from the 3,179 reported in July, while arrests increased from 52 to 57. The number of 911 calls declined by 88, according to last month's police statistics.
Police responded to 98 accidents, 95 disturbances, 89 alarms and 43 larceny or shoplifting reports in August. Larceny and shoplifting reports more than doubled from the 21 recorded in July.
Other activity included 32 domestic disputes, 31 animal complaints and 16 threats or assaults. Officers also served nine arrest warrants, up from four in July.
The department reported 253 medical calls, 109 well-being checks and 29 interactions involving mental health clinicians. Police received an average of 57 911 calls per day.
