(BOSTON)- The Administration announced this week the creation of the “Stop the Spread” initiative, a strategic testing program launching in communities across the state where cases and positive test rates far exceed the statewide average, and where the volume of testing being done has significantly declined over the last two months. Marlborough has been chosen as one of eight communities across the Commonwealth to participate.
All residents of Marlborough, and surrounding communities are encouraged to participate in this no-cost program, even if individuals are asymptomatic. This confidential testing will run from July 10th-August 14th, Monday through Friday, at a drive-up window at Marlborough Hospital, located at 157 Union Street, Marlborough. Testing will run from 8:00am to 12:00pm and interpreter services will be available on-site. Residents who do test positive, but do not have a safe place to isolate can call (617) 367-5150 to access a safe isolation and recovery site. It is strongly recommended that all individuals interested in testing visit: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/stop-the-spread to ensure that the hours and location remain the same and for further details on the program.

"While it is certainly disappointing that Marlborough has continued to show a higher than average positive test rate of COVID-19, I am grateful that the Administration has put into place a program to allow for free, confidential testing of asymptomatic residents to ensure that those who are sick and should be quarantining are doing so,” said Representative Danielle W. Gregoire, (D-Marlborough), House Chair of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight. “It has been proven time and time again that the key to combating this virus is expanded testing. I am grateful that our community has been given the tools necessary to not only test those that are unwell, but those that are asymptomatic, so that we as a community can be as proactive as possible with our own health and well-being.”
Other communities participating in the ‘Stop the Spread” initiative include: Chelsea, Everett, Fall River, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn and New Bedford.
