Gas Leak on Union Ave. in Sudbury

Wayland, Concord, Marlborough and Maynard’s Fire Departments jumped to assist in covering Sudbury as its firefighters responded to a gas leak on Wednesday.

Traffic was pared down to one lane around 9 a.m. on Union Road between Route 20 and Station Road on Wednesday after a gas leak.

Police Chief Scott Nix and Fire Chief William Miles said that utility crews are working to repair a gas leak reported on Union Avenue near the intersection of Route 20 and Boston Post Road.

Police and fire crews got word of the break shortly before 9 a.m., when the gas was successfully shut down.

National Grid anticipates about a three-hour repair time.

Two businesses have had their gas service affected. All other gas service is unaffected in town.

Fire crews have a fog line active to order to keep any possible gas fumes away from buildings, said the Sudbury Fire.

No fire or injuries have been reported. Fire crews from Marlborough, Wayland, Maynard and Concord are covering Sudbury during the incident.
