Gregoire Announces Voting Options for the September 1st Primary

(BOSTON) – Representative Danielle W. Gregoire (D-Marlborough) is pleased to share the expanded voting options and deadlines for the September 1st Primary for the communities of Marlborough, Westborough, and Northborough. These options are the result of legislation signed by the Governor last month to expand voting access and security due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming primary is Saturday, August 22nd. To register, change your registration or check your registration status, click here. This year, voters have the option to vote-by-mail, vote early, or vote on election day with precautions in place. Regarding voting by mail, applications to receive a ballot are due by Wednesday, August 26th. To download the vote by mail application, please click here. Ballots will be sent to one’s mailing address once the city or town clerk receives the request. Voters can track their ballot request here. Once the ballot is received, it can either be mailed back to the city or town clerk or dropped off in a designated ballot dropbox. These ballot boxes are at each respective community's city or town hall. Additionally, early voting will begin across the Commonwealth on Saturday, August 22nd, and will end on Friday, August 28th. Finally, voters who choose to cast their vote in person on Election Day will have additional safeguards in place to ensure their safety, including social distancing guidelines and enhanced sanitation measures.

“I have consistently heard from residents over the past few months about their concern for the upcoming elections,” said Representative Danielle Gregoire, (D-Marlborough), House Chair of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight. “As the result of legislation my colleagues and I passed, over one million Massachusetts residents have requested to vote by mail in the September 1st Primary. I am proud that this state has been able to ensure that all of our residents have an opportunity to engage in one of our most important civic duties safely and in the manner they so choose.”
